Dr. Joy Spiliopoulos is a Research Fellow at the University of Leicester's Department of Population Health Sciences, where she contributes to the NIHR-funded Greater Manchester Patient Safety Research Collaboration. She holds a PhD from Lancaster University and is a Visiting Fellow at Nottingham University Business School's Centre for Health Innovation, Leadership and Learning.
Her research focuses on migration sociology, particularly healthcare worker mobility, with recent projects examining Brexit's impact on NHS nurse retention and Filipino returnee nurses. Her work has received international media coverage.
She has taught sociology, gender studies, and qualitative methods globally and is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
