Joy Pahl is a Professor of Business Administration at St. Norbert College (SNC), located in De Pere, Wisconsin. She is affiliated with the Schneider School of Business & Economics, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, strategic management, and international business. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes experiential learning, case analyses, and active classroom discussions.
Education: B.S. and M.S. from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
Research focuses on case study development for strategic and entrepreneurial decision-making. She co-authored Meta-SWOT: Introducing a New Strategic Planning Tool (2012), which introduced a software tool for strategic planning. Her case studies appear in The CASE Journal and The Journal of Critical Incidents. She also explored student perceptions of ethical issues in business via a 2020 study in The International Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Society.
Awards: Recognized with the Leonard Ledvina Award for Excellence in Teaching (2002) and Order of the Omega Educator of the Year (2005). Leadership roles include co-founding The Fox Connection (2016), a regional entrepreneurship consortium, and organizing SNC’s annual business pitch contest, “Shark Attack.”
Advising and Engagement: Faculty advisor for Discoveries International, Inc. (student-operated business), the Untouchables women’s organization, and the SNC Curling Club. Active in community initiatives blending education and entrepreneurship.
