Joy Kang

Joy Kang is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling at Hope International University, where she contributes to the graduate programs in counseling and therapy. She holds a PsyD (ABD) in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University, and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine.

Her research and clinical interests center on the intersection of trauma, substance use, and family dynamics. She explores how ecological and contextual factors—particularly immigration and acculturation—influence recovery and relapse processes.
