Jouman Walid Hassan serves as a Research Fellow at the Center for Food Safety within the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. His work is based at the Griffin campus (1109 Experiment Street, Melton Building, Griffin, GA 30223), where he contributes to interdisciplinary food safety research under the university's agricultural sciences framework.
His research centers on food safety systems, with specific emphasis on pathogen detection in agricultural products, risk assessment of foodborne illnesses, and microbiological interventions in food production. This work intersects agricultural engineering, environmental microbiology, and public health surveillance, addressing critical gaps in farm-to-table safety protocols through laboratory and field investigations.
The Center for Food Safety operates as a multidisciplinary hub coordinating federal research initiatives, industry partnerships, and regulatory outreach programs. Dr. Hassan's role involves collaborative projects with USDA agencies and food industry stakeholders to develop evidence-based safety standards, leveraging the university's agricultural extension network across Georgia and national food supply chains.
