Vink's research centers on reshaping social structures in public service systems toward equitable outcomes, with particular attention to power dynamics, reflexivity, and marginalized communities. Their work bridges critical theory with practical design applications in healthcare, government, and community settings, challenging conventional design practices to create more inclusive service systems.
Vink's publication record reveals a consistent focus on power dynamics, reflexivity, and systemic transformation in service design. Their recent work explores relational perspectives, emotional aspects of service design, and the challenges of addressing inequality in design processes. A distinctive thread throughout their research is the emphasis on participatory methods that center marginalized voices and question existing power structures in public service systems.

- Best paper award in Journal of Service Management
- SERVSIG Best Dissertation Award in Service Research (2019)
Vink actively supervises Master's and PhD students in service and systemic design, emphasizing action-based learning and critical reflection through dialogue. They have secured significant research funding through projects like Re:Structure and previously led the Center for Connected Care, which focused on person-centered health innovation in Norway. Their editorial roles with Contexts – The Systemic Design Journal and Journal of Services Marketing further demonstrate their influence in the field.
Through the Re:Structure project, Vink leads a multidisciplinary team working with municipalities to redesign service systems that prevent youth marginalization. Their research approach emphasizes embodied, everyday design practices that build reflexivity and address power dynamics in systemic interventions.
