Josina Elizabeth Vink

Josina Elizabeth Vink is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Design within the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO). With a unique blend of design practice, education, and research, they bring extensive experience from both academic and professional settings to their current role.

• Masters of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation from OCAD University, Toronto

Research Interests:
Josina's research focuses on collective practices of reshaping social structures in public service systems and communities toward equitable outcomes. Their work explores the intersections of service design, systemic design, and critical theory with special emphasis on:

• Service ecosystem design
• Reflexivity and relationality in design processes
• Power dynamics in service design
• Institutional theory applications
• Transformative service research
• Design methods for systems change

Publications & Editorial Roles:
Josina has published extensively in leading design journals including Design Issues, International Journal of Design, Design Studies, The Design Journal, and Journal of Service Management. They serve as Associate Editor for Contexts – The Systemic Design Journal and Journal of Services Marketing, and are on the Editorial Board of Journal of Service Management (JOSM).

Professional Experience:
Before academia, Josina worked for a decade as a service and systemic designer in healthcare, including roles at the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation in the US and the Center for Addiction and Mental Health in Canada. They have led and facilitated participatory system and service design processes in healthcare, government, non-profit, and community settings.

Current Projects:
Josina is the Project Leader for the collaborative research and innovation project Re:Structure - Redesigning Municipal Service Systems to Prevent Youth Marginalization. They were also the Design Lead and AHO Project Manager for the Center for Connected Care (C3), a Center for Research-based Innovation focused on person-centered health innovation in Norway.
