Dr Josie Leonard is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire's School of Psychology and Humanities. She has been part of the institution since 2012, serving as Course Leader for the MA TESOL program and teaching on MA TESOL & Applied Linguistics and BA TESOL courses. Leonard holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Exeter (2021), focusing on language teacher identity formation and teacher development. Her research explores sociomaterialist perspectives on teacher identity, precarity in higher education, and TESOL program dynamics. She actively supervises doctoral students in related fields.
Leonard's recent work includes co-authoring studies on the impacts of precarity on academic teaching practices (2023) and sociomaterialist analyses of teacher identity (2023). Earlier research examined native-speakerism in English language teaching (2018) and challenges in TESOL program implementation (2015).
