Joshua T. Eisenthal is a Research Professor of Philosophy at the California Institute of Technology and Editor at the Einstein Papers Project. Effective September 2025, he will join the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor. He holds a B.A. from Oxford University (2008), a P.G.C.E. from Canterbury Christ Church University (2009), and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh (2018).
His research focuses on philosophy of science and early analytic philosophy. Recent work includes papers on absolute motion in physics and Wittgenstein's philosophy of science. He teaches courses such as Philosophy of Space and Time and Selected Topics in Humanities. Notable contributions include a chapter in *Wittgenstein's Tractatus-Logico Philosophicus: A Critical Guide* (Cambridge University Press, 2024).
Eisenthal has also engaged in public scholarship through podcast interviews with scholars like Haixin Dang and Samara Greenwood, discussing the philosophy of science in practice. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates, emphasizing conceptual clarity and methodological rigor.
