Jose Zalabardo is a Professor of Philosophy at the University College London (UCL) since 2000, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy. He holds a PhD from the University of Michigan (1994), an MPhil from the University of St Andrews (1988), and a BA from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1987). Before joining UCL, he was a lecturer at the University of Birmingham for six years. His research focuses on the history and philosophy of specific fields, metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of language, with a notable emphasis on Wittgenstein’s early works and their implications for linguistic interpretation and metaphysical analysis. He is fluent in Spanish (native), German (read/write/speak), French (read), and has a website at jzalabardo.wixsite.com.
His work on Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus explores themes like logical structure, metaphysical ontology, and the limits of language. Recent publications address rule-following paradoxes, epistemic humility, and pragmatist semantics. Zalabardo’s contributions also include debates on inferentialism, reliabilism, and the foundations of epistemic justification. He aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through his academic outreach and teaching.
No specific grants or advisory roles are documented, though his extensive publication record indicates active research collaboration. His multilingual capabilities enhance interdisciplinary engagement, particularly in Spanish-language philosophy. The absence of formal awards suggests a focus on scholarly contribution over accolades.
