Joshua Scott Gibson

Joshua Scott Gibson is a legal researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He completed his PhD in June 2025 with a thesis focused on amicus curiae in Australian constitutional litigation, examining civil society engagement with the High Court of Australia. His research bridges public law, human rights, and sociolegal methodology, with a particular interest in how institutional structures affect access to justice and empower social movements.

Gibson has held teaching roles at UNSW, Western Sydney University, and Macquarie University, covering legal research, constitutional law, and human rights. He is an admitted lawyer in the Supreme Court of NSW and served as the 2019 Higher Degree Research Faculty Representative for UNSW Law. His work emphasizes qualitative methods and legal pluralism in the Australian context.
