Joshua Mozersky is a Professor of Philosophy at Queen’s University, located in Kingston, Ontario. He holds a cross-appointment in the School of Computing within the Faculty of Arts and Science. His research focuses on the philosophy of science, metaphysics, philosophy of language, and ontology, with particular expertise in temporal metaphysics and the philosophy of time. Mozersky earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto (1999), following an MA from New York University (1995) and a BSc in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Toronto (1992).
His academic career includes roles as Head of the Department of Philosophy at Queen’s University (2011–2017) and as a Canada Research Chair in Metaphysics and Philosophy of Science (2002–2012). His publications explore topics such as B-theory of time, presentism, tense semantics, and the relationship between physics and human experience of time. Notable works include *Time, Language and Ontology: The World from the B-Theoretic Perspective* (2015) and influential essays on temporal passage, relativity theory, and metaphysical nominalism.
Mozersky’s research bridges analytical metaphysics and the history of philosophy, addressing questions about temporal ontology, language, and scientific realism. His recent work engages with contemporary debates on quantum gravity, cosmological time, and the philosophical implications of physical theories like relativity.
