Joshua Lewis

Professor Joshua Lewis is a leading academic in cardiometabolic health and disorders of mineralization at Edith Cowan University (ECU). He holds a Chair in Cardiometabolic Health at the Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute within ECU’s School of Medical and Health Sciences. His research focuses on preventing vascular and bone diseases through early detection and lifestyle interventions, with a particular emphasis on vascular calcification and its link to cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes. Lewis has attracted over $17 million in competitive research funding and leads major projects such as the Perth Longitudinal Study of Ageing Women and the Western Australian Cardiovascular Research Alliance.

His professional roles include Chair of the Research Committee at the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society, Co-chair of the Future Global Leaders Committee at the International Federation of Musculoskeletal Research Societies, and Research Program Lead at ECU’s Nutrition and Health Innovation Institute. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Nature, the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, and Lancet Planetary Health.
