Joshua Hausman is an Associate Professor of Economics (Courtesy) at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). His research focuses on macroeconomic history, particularly the U.S. Great Depression and Japan's modern economic policies. Key topics include the impact of fiscal and monetary policies, agricultural price dynamics during the 1930s, and Abenomics' effects on Japan's economy. He holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (2013) and a B.A. from Swarthmore College (2005), with prior roles at the Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers. He won the 2013 Allan Nevins Prize for his dissertation on economic history.
