Joshua Frye

Dr. Joshua Frye is a Professor of Communication at Cal Poly Humboldt. He has extensive international experience in over 35 countries, focusing on strategic environmental and political communication, sustainable development, and community advocacy. His research spans organic agriculture movements, food systems, and leadership in sustainability. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and has taught at institutions like SUNY, Dartmouth, and Yale.

• Education: Ph.D. in Communication from Purdue University, MA from Marquette University, BA from University of Minnesota.
• Professional Roles: Former SUNY Professor, Board Member of the Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship, and Program Director for Sustainable Summer's environmental leadership programs.

His research interests include ideological criticism, public education, and sustainable community development. He has published over 30 articles, books, and chapters. Recent work focuses on civic engagement through deliberative democracy. He actively collaborates with non-profits like Sustainable Summer and serves on local committees for agriculture and open spaces.

Grants and Funding: Recipient of the Purdue Research Foundation Dissertation Grant for study on the organic agriculture movement.
