Joshua Fan

Dr. Joshua Fan is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Business, University of Wollongong, within the Faculty of Business and Law. He joined the institution in 2007 and has held roles such as Academic Director for offshore postgraduate programs and Programs Director for the Master of Science (Logistics) and Master of Project Management. Previously, he worked as a consultant in IT and logistics, specializing in supply chain configurations and enterprise systems development.

Education & Professional Background: Dr. Fan’s career bridges academia and industry. Before academia, he contributed to supply chain optimization in the logistics and IT sectors. His academic roles include Co-Director of the Centre for Strategic Supply Solutions, a research/consulting arm of the Sydney Business School.

Research Interests: His work focuses on strategic supply chain management, operations research, workflow optimization, and electronic business. He applies complexity theory to social enterprise supply chains and investigates healthcare systems through case studies. His research also explores additive manufacturing, bioenergy impacts, and ontology-based knowledge management frameworks for inter-organizational collaboration.

Funding & Grants: He secured an internal grant (2014) for developing a framework for Medication Management Information Systems (MMIS), emphasizing consumer-centric healthcare technology.

Teaching & Supervision: He supervises higher-degree research students in areas like bioenergy socioeconomics, innovation in manufacturing systems, and dynamic workflow platforms. His teaching integrates practical industry insights with theoretical frameworks.
