Joshua DiCaglio is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Texas A&M University, serving as Director of Graduate Studies. His research bridges rhetoric, science, and mysticism, with a focus on scalar theory, environmental communication, and the intersections of science fiction with philosophical inquiry.
Education: Ph.D., M.A. in English from Pennsylvania State University (2016, 2012); B.A. in English from University of South Carolina (2010).
Research interests include the rhetoric of science, environmental communication, history of rhetoric, and the relationship between scientific discourse and mystical traditions. His book Scale Theory: A Nondisciplinary Inquiry (2021) proposes foundational scalar frameworks for interdisciplinary inquiry.
Notable awards include the Schachterle Prize (2020) for outstanding work on literature and science, and the Montague Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar (2019). Recent publications explore microbial nanotechnology, visualizing scale in art-science collaborations, and pedagogical applications of Wikipedia editing challenges.
