Joshua D. Y'Barbo

Dr. Joshua Y'Barbo is a Research Fellow in Co-Design at the University of Greenwich's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Art History and Theory and specializes in critical pedagogy, socially engaged art, and institutional critique theory. His research examines participatory structures for audience engagement in institutional contexts.

His research focuses on critical pedagogy, institutional critique, and art as social practice. Recent work explores art education frameworks for gender equality, neurodiversity in creative practice, and metaphorical representations of identity.

Recent publications demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to art education reform and feminist critique. Common themes include pedagogical innovation, institutional power structures, and artistic responses to social inequality.

As Artist-in-Residence for the TEAM LEWIS Foundation, he develops art programs addressing gender equality and social justice. He contributes to the Empowering Youth through Entrepreneurial Skills (EYES) project, co-designing digital platforms for marginalized youth.
