Louisiana State University of Alexandriaمعرفی
Dr. Joshua D. Voss is an Associate Research Professor at Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, where he leads the Robertson Coral Reef Program dedicated to discovering, characterizing, and protecting coral reef ecosystems. His research spans shallow and mesophotic reefs across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, with emphasis on conservation-driven science.
Dr. Voss's primary research investigates:
- Coral reef ecology across depth gradients (shallow to mesophotic zones)
- Disease dynamics, particularly stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD) interventions and impacts
- Genetic connectivity and population structure of reef-building corals
- Molecular ecology of coral-algal symbioses and stress responses
- Marine conservation strategies for degraded reef systems
His recent publications (76 total) demonstrate a strong focus on:
- SCTLD pathology, treatment efficacy, and susceptibility factors
- Genetic adaptations of corals across depth and environmental gradients
- Mesophotic reef ecosystems as potential refugia
- Restoration science for Caribbean coral species
Dr. Voss directs the Robertson Coral Reef Program, which conducts field operations across the Greater Caribbean using advanced technologies like ROVs and 3D photogrammetry. The program emphasizes international collaborations, including landmark surveys of Cuba's mesophotic reefs.
