Joshua Bloom is an Associate Professor in Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh, affiliated with the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. He directs the Social Movements Lab and the Center for Emancipatory Research. Bloom’s research focuses on social movements, race, labor, and insurgent practices, particularly examining dynamics of resistance and social transformation. His work bridges historical analysis and contemporary activism, addressing issues like police violence, racial inequality, and civil rights struggles.
