Joshua A. Williams is a Researcher affiliated with the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. He holds a Ph.D. in International Studies (2017) and has been involved in policy analysis, statistical research, and Japanese language education. His work focuses on electoral politics, international relations, and security policy in East Asia.
Williams’ research explores the intersection of technology and political processes, particularly in Japan. His notable publication in Japan Decides 2014 analyzes online campaigning strategies of political parties. He has held fellowships at the Institute for Public Policy (IPI) and the National Bureau of Asian Research, and contributed to policy development at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a Social Science Analyst.
His awards include the Cyber Security Fellowship and SSI Junior Fellowship, reflecting his expertise in security and international policy. Williams’ research methods emphasize quantitative analysis and state-market dynamics, with a regional specialization in East Asia.
