Joshua A. Tucker

Joshua A. Tucker is the Julius Silver, Roslyn S. Silver, and Enid Silver Winslow Professor at New York University (NYU), where he holds appointments as Professor of Politics, Russian and Slavic Studies, and Data Science. He directs NYU’s Jordan Center for Advanced Study of Russia and co-directs the Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP), leading cutting-edge research on the intersection of social media and political behavior.

His work spans comparative politics, focusing on mass politics phenomena such as elections, voting behavior, partisan attachment, and protest dynamics, with particular emphasis on Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Recent research at NYU’s SMaPP Lab explores social media data to analyze political knowledge, partisan echo chambers, hate speech, and authoritarian regime responses to online opposition.
