Josh Wolstenholme is a Researcher in Geoscience within the Department of Geography and Environment at Loughborough University. His work focuses on fluvial hydrogeomorphology, environmental modeling, and the application of machine learning to ecological challenges. Prior to this role, he completed a PhD at the University of Hull (2023) exploring fluvial responses to leaky wooden dams, followed by an MSc by Research at the University of Leeds (2018) developing hydrological connectivity techniques.
His research interests include sediment transport dynamics, flood hazard modeling, and the integration of new technologies like 3D modeling and deep learning for environmental monitoring. He has contributed to projects such as hedgerow gap mapping and participatory youth activism frameworks. His recent publications emphasize catchment-scale dam efficacy assessment, low-cost 3D monitoring systems, and policy recommendations for flood resilience.
Wolstenholme is also engaged in education innovation, developing 360-video and 3D model tools for geoscience teaching and a CPD course on nature-based solutions. His work bridges applied environmental science with policy, ecology, and emerging technologies.
