معرفی
Professor Dan Parsons is a Professor of Geosciences and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Loughborough University. Previously, he served as founding Director of the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull. He holds a PhD in Geosciences from the University of Sheffield (2004) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PCHE). His research focuses on sediment dynamics, climate change impacts, microplastic pollution, and fluvial geomorphology. He has held roles at the University of Leeds, USGS Hydroacoustics Office, and the University of Illinois.
Research interests include sediment transport processes, river and estuary morphodynamics, volcanic geohazards, and the application of hydro-geomorphological models. He leads projects like the Evo Flood Project and contributed to the Global River Topology (GRIT) initiative. His work integrates field observations, laboratory experiments, and computational modelling to address environmental challenges such as flood risk, plastic pollution, and climate adaptation.
Publications highlight his expertise in fluvial systems, submarine canyons, and anthropogenic impacts on water systems. He has pioneered studies on sediment cascades, turbidity currents, and the socio-environmental dimensions of climate action. His academic leadership roles underscore his commitment to advancing research innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
