Josh Richman is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (Stanford GSB) since 2018, specializing in Political Economy. He concurrently serves as Vice President of Global Business Development and Policy at Bloom Energy Corporation (2015–present), overseeing new market expansion, strategic partnerships, public-sector sales, utility-scale projects, and legislative/regulatory affairs. Previously, he held roles at Bloom Energy including Vice President of Business Development and Government Affairs (2011–2014) and Director of Business Development (2007–2010). Before Bloom, he worked at Greenrock Capital (a clean energy-focused private equity firm) and spent six years on national U.S. political campaigns. Richman holds an MBA from Stanford GSB (2005) and an AB in Public Policy from Brown University (1997).
His research interests focus on the intersection of political economy and energy systems, particularly how innovation, policy, and business strategy shape clean technology adoption. He consistently teaches POLECON 515: Energy: Innovation, Policy & Business Strategy at Stanford GSB since 2021, emphasizing real-world applications of policy design and corporate sustainability.
In advising roles, he serves as an Advisor to Semtive (2016–present).
