Josh Marineau serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at North Dakota State University's College of Business, where he teaches Organizational Behavior and Negotiations and Conflict Resolution courses.
His academic credentials include a PhD from the University of Kentucky, complemented by an MBA and BA from the University of Alaska - Anchorage.
Dr. Marineau's research centers on organizational behavior through a social network lens, with groundbreaking work on negative relational ties like interpersonal conflict. His studies demonstrate that conflict can enhance work performance and innovation when properly navigated, and that leaders exhibit greater accuracy in perceiving organizational conflict than non-leaders. He also investigates entrepreneurial ecosystems, particularly through his Fargo-Moorhead area research.
His scholarly contributions include publications in Social Networks, Group & Organization Management, and Journal of Business and Psychology, with presentations at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and International Network for Social Network Analysis conferences.
Notable research funding includes a $61,083 two-year grant from the Marion Kauffman Foundation (2016) supporting his entrepreneurship ecosystem studies, which involved extensive qualitative and quantitative data collection from local startup communities.
