Josh Hite

Josh Hite is a visual artist and educator teaching photography and media arts at the University of British Columbia, performance studies at Capilano University, and Continuing Studies photography at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. He actively collaborates with the Vancouver Soundwalk Collective and participated in the Ten Fifteen Maple waterfront parks residency.

His educational background includes:

Hite's research centers on spatial documentation and human movement through local environments, creating reorganized archives via self-recorded materials or appropriated YouTube content. His work critically examines memory, backyard behavior, and action alteration in everyday settings through film, video, and photographic media.

His artistic output reveals consistent thematic focus on landscape infrastructure and human-space interaction, utilizing found footage and video installations to investigate environmental impacts on memory and behavior. Projects like Cliffs Quarries Bridges and Dams (2012) demonstrate rigorous spatial analysis through visual anthropology frameworks.
