Josephine Taylor is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in Writing and English at Edith Cowan University’s School of Arts and Humanities. She previously served as Associate Editor at Westerly Magazine at the University of Western Australia. Her work intersects creative writing with academic research, particularly focusing on chronic female pain, feminist narratives, and life writing. Her debut novel Eye of a Rook (2021) was shortlisted for the WA Premier’s Book Awards. Taylor’s research explores taboo subjects, medical narratives, and historical reinterpretations, often employing autoethnographic and interdisciplinary approaches.
Her professional affiliations include membership with the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), Australian Society of Authors (ASA), and Peter Cowan Writers Centre (PCWC). Notable recognitions include the Magdalena Prize in Feminist Research (2012) and the Faculty Research Medal (2011).
Taylor has held residencies and fellowships, including the 2018 Writer-in-Residence at Peter Cowan Writers Centre and participation in the Four Centres Emerging Writers Program (2019–2021). Her creative and scholarly outputs span novels, journal articles, and creative nonfiction, reflecting her commitment to bridging academic rigor with imaginative storytelling.
