Professor Joseph W. Berriman is a multifaceted academic and law enforcement professional at the University of Arizona. He serves as the founder and Team Supervisor of the Crisis Negotiation Team at the University of Arizona Police Department, a Negotiator on the Pima Regional SWAT Team, and a Professor of negotiation and mediation at the James E. Rogers College of Law. Additionally, he is a court-appointed mediator for the Arizona Superior Court with over 15 years of mediation experience. His career spans roles as a violent crimes detective at HIDTA's counter-narcotics joint task force and homicide detective on the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team.

Berriman specializes in crisis negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution, integrating field experience into teaching law enforcement and legal professionals nationwide. His scholarly focus aligns with practical applications in community engagement and law enforcement innovation.
