Joseph Trumino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. John's University. He holds a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate School, City University of New York. His research focuses on the sociology of sport, cultural sociology, and social theory, particularly examining football's role in American life. He teaches courses on deviant behavior, inequality, urban sociology, and violence/war.
Dr. Trumino actively participates in academic conferences, including the American Sociological Conference and the Eastern Sociological Society. He serves as Chair of Sport for the Mid-Atlantic-Popular Culture Association and has guest-edited The Almanac, the association's journal. His work also extends to the Cooperstown Symposium, affiliated with the Baseball Hall of Fame.
