Joseph Takougang is Professor and Department Head of Africana Studies at the University of Cincinnati, with affiliate status in the History Department. His research focuses on colonial and post-colonial Africa, particularly Cameroon's political development and contemporary African migration patterns to the United States.
Takougang has authored and edited several books examining Cameroon's political evolution under Paul Biya, African migration trajectories, and the Cameroonian diaspora experience. His scholarly work combines historical analysis with contemporary policy examination of migration and governance challenges in Africa.
Research has been supported by multiple grants including Taft Research Center awards enabling fieldwork in Cameroon. Takougang's international research includes extensive archival work in Cameroon and analysis of diaspora communities.
