Joseph Sinicrope is a Research Scientist at Florida International University’s Applied Research Center. His work focuses on operational testing, evaluation, and deployment of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technologies to support the Department of Energy’s nuclear deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) activities. Since 2015, he has specialized in adapting intumescent technologies as incombustible fixatives and addressing regulatory standards for their adoption.
- Role: Chairman of ASTM International E10.03 Subcommittee on Radiological Protection for D&D of Nuclear Facilities.
- Experience: 22-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps with global leadership roles and extensive interagency policy expertise.

Research Interests include nuclear facility decommissioning, radiation protection standards, and COTS-based innovation. His work bridges technical solutions with regulatory frameworks to advance DOE missions.
Collaborations involve partnerships like the FIU-Savannah River Nuclear Solutions MOU, robotics/AI workshops, and mentoring through the WISE Program.
