Professor Joseph Selvanayagam is a Faculty member at Flinders University within the College of Medicine and Public Health. He serves as the Director of Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging at Flinders Medical Centre and Director of Cardiac Imaging Research (CIR) at SAHMRI. His research program focuses on using cardiac imaging to address mechanistic questions in:
- Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy
- Coronary Artery Disease
- Arrhythmia Disorders
He received his medical degree with First Class Honours from the University of Adelaide (1995), FRACP (2002), and DPhil from Oxford University (2005). His research has attracted over 35 million AUD in grant funding and produced 420+ peer-reviewed publications with an h-index of 56.
Recent publications highlight his work in:
- Photon-counting CT angiography for coronary stenosis
- Cardio-oncology and immune checkpoint inhibitor toxicity
- MRI feature tracking in myocardial infarction
- Cardiovascular outcomes in prostate cancer
