Dr. Schulz's research focuses on the evolution and functional activity of venom peptides in fish-hunting cone snails. His laboratory combines biochemistry, molecular biology, and electrophysiology to investigate neurotoxins with biomedical applications, particularly their role in prey capture mechanisms and potential therapeutic uses.
The selected publications highlight trends in venom peptide characterization, biomechanics of venom delivery systems, and neurotoxin interactions with ion channels. Research spans structural analysis of neuroexcitatory peptides, high-speed predatory mechanisms, and comparative studies of venom composition across species and time.
