Joseph Rinehart is an Assistant Professor of Communication, Department Chair, and Director of the Broadcasting Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU). He has served in these roles since 2005, overseeing broadcasting programs and live-streaming of athletics and chapel services. With over 30 years in media, he previously held positions as General Manager at Clear Channel Radio and Sports Director at WSYX-TV. His work bridges academic instruction and professional broadcasting.

Research interests focus on media production, sports journalism, and community engagement through media. His initiatives include producing the ‘In Memoriam’ video for Knox County’s Food for the Hungry drives and coordinating live-streaming of campus events. He actively contributes to community boards such as the Knox County Food for the Hungry Partner Board and Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival Board.
