Joseph Quinn is a Senior Lecturer (Education) at Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. He serves as Associate Director (Student Experience) for the Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education and Programme Lead for the Human Biology BSc (Hons) program. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in improving educational equity and student well-being. Quinn has over 26 years of research activity with 37 publications, focusing on medical education innovations, cardiovascular development, and neurophysiological mechanisms.
His research interests span anatomy pedagogy, student inclusion strategies, and biomedical sciences outreach. Notable contributions include using chick embryo models for teaching fetal alcohol syndrome impacts and developing student-led art-anatomy workshops. Quinn has received multiple grants including Physiological Society Outreach Awards and Queen's Annual Fund grants.
He currently serves as an external examiner for undergraduate programs and participates in outreach initiatives like Science at Queens Festival. Quinn's professional activities include over 120 engagements in teaching workshops, exhibitions, and academic committees.
