Dr. Joseph Misdraji is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and an Associate Pathologist at Yale New Haven Hospital. He specializes in gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology, with expertise in appendiceal neoplasia. Previously, he spent over 20 years at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he held leadership roles including co-director and director of Gastrointestinal Pathology, and director of Histopathology Operations. At Yale, he directs the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory and the Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship Program.
His research focuses on improving diagnostic precision in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. He has authored numerous publications and contributed to international guidelines, including chapters in the WHO classification for appendiceal pathology. Dr. Misdraji is a section editor for liver pathology at the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and has held leadership positions in prominent societies like the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society (GIPS).
Dr. Misdraji’s clinical work involves diagnosing inflammatory conditions and growths in the gastrointestinal tract and liver, collaborating with clinical teams to guide patient care. He maintains board certifications in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology, obtained in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
