معرفی
Dr Joseph Mallalieu is a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), focusing on glacier dynamics, GIS, and remote sensing. His work investigates how glacier behavior is influenced by volcanic activity and ice-marginal lakes. He leads the Leverhulme Trust-funded project 'Using glaciers to identify, monitor, and predict volcanic activity' under Dr Iestyn Barr. Prior roles include a PhD at the University of Leeds (studying Greenland Ice-Sheet lake-terminating dynamics) and Lecturer at York St John University.
Research techniques include optical remote sensing, field surveys, time-lapse photography, and Structure-from-Motion (SfM) to analyze glacial processes like calving. He also collaborates on INTERACT-funded projects in Arctic Sweden, studying land- and lake-terminating glacier dynamics under extreme temperature anomalies.
