Joseph Maldjian

Joseph A. Maldjian is Professor and Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs in the Department of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he directs the Advanced NeuroScience Imaging Research (ANSIR) Lab. He is a board-certified neuroradiologist with fellowship training from the University of Pennsylvania.

His research develops advanced neuroimaging methodologies including arterial spin-labeling perfusion, functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, and machine learning applications for brain tumor characterization and traumatic brain injury assessment. He leads NIH-funded projects on noninvasive glioma classification and subconcussive impact research in athletes.

Maldjian has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, with his work on PickAtlas recognized among the most cited in neuroimaging. His honors include:

• Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research (2017)
• Inaugural Fellow of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology (2019)
