Joseph M. Reinhardt is the Roy J. Carver Chair in Biomedical Engineering and a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa's College of Engineering. He also holds a professorship in Radiology and leads the Image Analysis Group at the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging. His interdisciplinary affiliations include the University of Iowa Informatics Initiative and the Iowa Initiative for Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Reinhardt's research centers on medical imaging, with key interests in image processing, signal processing, and 3D medical imaging. His research bridges engineering and clinical applications, leveraging artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic imaging.
His scientific contributions have been recognized through prestigious fellowships, including IEEE, AIMBE, IAMBE, and AAIA, and professional memberships in AAAS, AAPM, and BMES.
He leads the Reinhardt Biomedical Imaging Lab, where he mentors students and conducts cutting-edge research in imaging science. His lab focuses on developing novel image analysis algorithms and translating them into clinical practice. He has been an active faculty member since 1997 and continues to contribute significantly to biomedical engineering and radiological sciences.
