Joseph M. DeSimone is the Sanjiv Sam Gambhir Professor of Translational Medicine and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, with courtesy appointments in Radiology, Chemistry, and the Graduate School of Business. Previously, he held professorships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. His research focuses on 3D printing innovations, advanced polymers, and translational medical applications like vaccine platforms and pediatric medical devices. He co-founded Carbon, Inc., a leading additive manufacturing company. DeSimone has authored over 350 papers, holds 200+ patents, and mentored 80 PhD students, emphasizing diversity in STEM.
