Joseph Krylow is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at North Carolina State University. His academic journey began with a military background in the Marines before transitioning to philosophy studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Purdue University (2021) and an M.A. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science from the University of Delaware (2011).
His research focuses on medieval philosophy, philosophy of religion, and virtue ethics, with particular emphasis on Augustine's philosophical contributions. Krylow’s work explores themes like soul immortality, free will, and theological anthropology. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly and contributed reviews to Augustinian Studies.
In teaching, he emphasizes accessible philosophical discourse and encourages student engagement. Beyond academia, he enjoys guitar playing and family life, often coaching his sons’ sports teams.
