Joseph E. Stiglitz is a University Professor at Columbia University, with appointments across the Columbia Business School, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Economics, and School of International and Public Affairs. He served as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (1995-1997) and Chief Economist of the World Bank (1997-2000). A Nobel laureate in Economics (2001) and co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (2007) for his IPCC work, Stiglitz has shaped global discourse on economic inequality, market failures, and policy reform.
