Joseph E. Gaugler

Joseph E. Gaugler holds the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care & Aging as a Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health, where he also directs the Center on Aging.

His research centers on long-term care effectiveness for Alzheimer's and chronic conditions, with emphasis on dementia care systems, longitudinal impacts of family caregiving, and community-based psychosocial interventions for elderly populations. As an applied gerontologist, he bridges clinical practice with health policy development in aging populations.

Dr. Gaugler actively shapes public discourse through media engagements during Alzheimer's Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month, translating research into actionable insights for caregivers and policymakers.

He leads the Center on Aging's initiatives while contributing to the newly launched Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to address critical aging challenges through community-engaged research frameworks.
