Joseph D. Wolfe

Joseph D. Wolfe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on medical sociology, health disparities, social stratification, and the life course. He holds a BA in Sociology from Millsaps College, an MS in Applied Statistics from Indiana University, and a PhD in Sociology from Indiana University Bloomington.

Dr. Wolfe’s work examines how social contexts and aging interact to influence health and behavior, with particular attention to historical shifts in health disparities and the role of education, wealth, and socioeconomic status.
