Joseph D. Piotroski is the Robert K. Jaedicke Professor of Accounting at Stanford Graduate School of Business and Senior Fellow at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research. Holds PhD in Accounting from University of Michigan (1999), MBA in Finance from Indiana University (1994), and BS in Accounting from University of Illinois (1989). Previously Associate Professor at University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (1999-2007) and tax professional at Coopers and Lybrand.
Research examines corporate transparency, financial regulation, and valuation in emerging markets, with focus on institutional influences in China. Current work analyzes political connections and financial reporting practices in transitional economies.
Publications demonstrate sustained focus on corporate disclosure patterns, political influences on financial markets, and accounting fundamentals in risk assessment.
