Joseph C. Moravec is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Mercy College of Health Sciences (Des Moines, IA), where he has taught since 2004 (as Associate Professor until 2008, then Professor). He holds a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (1993), a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (1983), and additional graduate degrees in Religious Studies and Theology.

Dr. Moravec’s research focuses on the intersection of religion, healthcare ethics, and critical thinking. He developed analytical tools to study New Testament healing incidents and created schematics for transreligious and transtraditional critical thinking pedagogy. His work emphasizes holistic health (physical, psychological, spiritual) and service learning, particularly in combating human trafficking and supporting underserved populations through community partnerships.
His recent publications and presentations (2010–2024) highlight anti-trafficking initiatives, critical thinking frameworks in healthcare, religious competency training for professionals, and curriculum development. Key projects include co-founding Stop Trafficking Now.US (2021), creating the 'Learn Something' platform for Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (2022), and authoring human trafficking training videos (2024).

He has also led global service-learning excursions to Israel (2000) and collaborated with institutions in Moscow (1994) and Melbourne (2000). As Board President of the Community Foundation for Inspired Giving since 2008, he integrates academic leadership with community impact.
