Josep Vidal Conti

Josep Vidal Conti is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Didactics at the University of the Balearic Islands. He holds a PhD in Sports Science and has extensive leadership roles, including Deputy Director of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Education (IRIE) since 2021 and Director of the Master's Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Research since 2022. He previously served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Education (2010–2017), Director of the Teaching Support Office (2017–2021), and has led multiple research projects on physical activity, back pain prevention, and educational interventions.

Research Focus: His work centers on physical activity promotion, low back pain prevention in children, postural education, and the role of physical education in schools. He leads the Physical Activity and Sports Science Research Group (GICAFE) and has over 50 indexed publications and 100 conference presentations.

Recent Contributions:

• Developed postural education programs for schoolchildren (PEPE study).
• Investigated self-regulated learning in physical education interventions.
• Examined active commuting and playground interventions to boost physical activity.

Grants & Projects: Principal investigator on national R+D projects, including the GLYCEX randomized trial on exercise and glucose control.

Labs/Teams: Active member of the Physical Activity and Sports Science (GICAFE) research group and co-leads initiatives in the IRIE.
