Josep Alvarez Montaner

Josep Alvarez Montaner is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), affiliated with the Facultat de Matemàtiques i Estadística (FME). He is a member of the GEOMVAP research group (Geometry of Varieties and Applications). His work focuses on algebraic geometry, commutative algebra, D-modules, and singularity theory. He has supervised PhD students including Ferran Dachs Cadefau and Roger Gómez-López, and has been awarded the Premi Extraordinari de Doctorat twice.

• Education & Research: PhD in Mathematics from UPC, with extensive contributions to local cohomology, multiplier ideals, and D-module theory. His research bridges algebraic structures with geometric and combinatorial methods.
