Josefa Sicard-Mirabal

Josefa Sicard-Mirabal is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law, where she teaches courses on Investor-State Arbitration, International Business Transactions, and International Arbitration Practicum. She has extensive experience in international arbitration and dispute resolution, holding roles such as External Member of the Sanctions Committee of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) since 2011 and former Executive Director of Arbitration and ADR for North America at the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2006–2015). She is also a member of prominent legal organizations, including the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.

• Educations: Law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (Dominican Republic), advanced studies at Fordham University School of Law (NY).

Her research and practice focus on international arbitration mechanisms, investor-state disputes, and cross-border commercial transactions. She has authored articles and co-authored the book Introduction to Investor-State Arbitration (2018) with Yves Derains, and frequently lectures globally on arbitration topics. Her professional contributions have earned her recognition as a leading figure in Latin American legal circles, including being named one of the “20 Leading Latinas in Business” (2007) and “100 Most Influential Hispanics” (2006).
