Jose Parral is an Associate Professor and Chair of the School of Architecture at Woodbury University in San Diego, California. He holds an MA in Landscape Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (2001) and a BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. His work bridges design, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration, focusing on public spaces, urban environments, and spatiotemporal relationships.
- Recipient of the Kate L. Brewster Rome Prize (2007).
- Collaborated with artists like Thomas Glassford and Ken Ueno on projects such as border installations, video art, and musical performance design.
- Founder of design practice Office 24/7 and part of international design groups.
His research explores performance of the human body in urban contexts, resulting in works like a short film with Ken Ueno during his Rome residency (2007) and exhibitions such as ConfluxCity (New York, 2009). He has also contributed to the US-Mexico Border initiatives, including Woodbury University’s 2020 ACSA Workshop.
